I wrote "Distance Lullaby (Stay Away, Stay Alive)" to soothe a raw, scared soul. The first few days of Austin's Shelter In Place order due to the Coronavirus were unfathomable. The streets fell silent. Nobody knew what was to come, and we still don't. This song is for all of us, all over the world. We are in it for the long haul.

"Distance Lullaby (Stay Away, Stay Alive)" is backed with Big Star's "Thirteen". I adore the original version and recall Elliott Smith's gorgeous cover from live shows. I found I could play it too, and it lifted my spirits to learn this song in the thick of it all.

A portion of the proceeds from this single will benefit The SIMS Foundation, a nonprofit organization providing mental health and recovery services and support to Austin musicians, music industry professionals and their families during these unprecedented times, and beyond.
