looking at another empty page the sharp points of words bullets graze me document a future fall from grace after all, what good's a new love without a casualty? we can't draw lines drive blind and find yourself outside the lines oh, love is a many splintered thing oh, love is a many splintered thing start again now boy meets girl on the great plains the colors, curves are endless paralell your other green world there's enough space inside to lose the both of us I need you here too much time bleary-eyed behind the wheel oh, love is a many splintered thing oh, love is a many splintered thing

drive your car into the frozen heart of Runway Two stars have never looked so close never felt so useless you stared at your prize until you went cross-eyed from the imperfection lost all directive I know you're out there somewhere you should know to leave well enough alone you should go home and I'll go home we'll sit alone and we'll both be happy don't stop now you're almost done keep going 'til you find a place for everything keep on digging in hopes of finding something though my back is aching I wouldn't change a thing
3.
the streets are wet the stores aren't open yet a lonely opal dawn walking around for-to forget the other girl in another town did you make a decision? and do you have an opinion? it's a long ways to fall it's a long ways to fall you missed the alarm and now you're late for work she's driving you downtown does getting what you want make you feel like a jerk? and who do you want around tomorrow? did you make a decision? and do you have an opinion? it's a long ways to fall it's a long wasted fall it's a long wasted fall

Idaho 03:51
I dreamed that Idaho was on the coast but I couldn't find the state to take its place we stayed up all night listening to your grandpa's 78s the lights begin to glow and shadow all the lines in your face cast off your belongings let the rain fall on the awnings and age each day a hundred years 'til you've grown as old as the sea at night a sleepy thousand years old as the rocks and the trees old as the rocks and the trees I've never been so far as Idaho but I hope to make it there one stormy day and hear a cowboy song to keep me in this empty state of grace the lights will start to glow and shadow all the lines in my face cast off your belongings let the rain fall on the awnings and age each day a hundred years 'til you've grown as old as me at night a sleepy thousand years old as the rocks and the trees old as the rocks and the trees

sweet sweet sweetie you could make it so easy for me I won't even know what hit me 'til it's gone keep keep it up keep it up cause as soon as you stop it'll start to aching again aching again free fall far out in space again floating in place you should get while the getting's good god, not what you think at all don't be afraid the view from up here is astounding it's astounding I'm sick you're wrong we're so weak when we think we belong it'll all come back to you it all comes back to you it all comes back to you free fall, far out in space again floating in place you should get while the getting's good god, not what you think at all don't be afraid the view from up here is astounding it's astounding we could be the first to last be the first to be last we could be the first to last

Rudy (live) 03:18
Rudy lives next door to me in a box lit by fluorescent lights he wears brown corduroys and glasses with dirty yellow lenses and sometimes I catch him watching me through my windows at night he drives a rusty Oldsmobile and parks it by the dumpster I've looked inside and seen the greasy velvet seats I don't know where he goes or who he knows who would get in that car and drive with him along these dark and lonely city streets now the only things I know about Rudy is what I learn from watching him like once when he was pushing a girl on a swing at the park in the day it's ok because other people might be watching Rudy too but it scares me to think of seeing him in the dark it scares me to think of seeing him in the dark now he wouldn't say a word he'd just take my hand and lead me to that car and we'd drive into the heart of the city as she sleeps and in the darkness between streetlights he can look up and see a few stars with a wish he could tell me all his secrets with a wish he could tell me all his secrets just a wish and he tells me all his secrets
7.
do you long for something you could take care of or it to take care of you? a small thing a whole thing little flimsy parody what you think you know think you need never was supposed to be like this don't hold back this time you're getting what you ask for you could own your own home own your own home own your own home dead stretch of miles so far back it's not yours could you hold out for more? hold out for more something bigger than you or me place where we can rest our weary heap of bones own your own home
8.
it's late and your head is aching it'll work itself out if you'd just be patient get up and go to the window radio tower flashing what you already know to be true is not such a hard thing to do not such a hard thing let go it'll all come back to you would you think or would you do what your heart's been telling you? close the door and open a window listen to the traffic go you're broken bad and blue it's late and your heart is aching it could be so easy if you'd just stop faking let's go it'll all come back to you what you say and what you do is that what makes you true? there's nothing wrong with you there's nothing wrong with you
9.
Half Right 03:34
well you shouldn't doctor yourself well I pictured somebody else what's he look like? what's she look like? well you say that the one of your dreams got in you and ripped out the seams that's what I'd say that's what I'd say he was a sucker for your double dose motherfucker turned white as a ghost don't you say hi? don't you say hi? with a broken sink for a face and a head that just takes up space it's not half right it''s not half right it's already half ass and it won't last I was sticking up for my friend when there wasn't much to defend it's a lost fight it's a lost fight when I talk to you on the phone it's worse than being a lone it's not half right it's not half right it's already half ass and it won't last

about

Amy Annelle Austin, Texas

A prolific writer and interpreter of songs, Amy Annelle maps out the farther reaches of American music, while conjuring visions of our restless musical past. Over the course of ten albums & thousands of miles logged on the road, Annelle has cultivated a rarified voice and repertoire that "blooms with open-hearted, lustful vulnerability and a harrowing naturalistic solitude”(Crawdaddy). ... more
